Welcome
Throughout my professional and personal life, I have come to understand the deep connection between the mind and body and the importance of recognising that our mental wellbeing greatly impacts our physical health, just as our physical wellbeing significantly effects our emotional balance.
Unresolved issues can also have a negative influence on our confidence, self-esteem, relationships, social and work life - preventing us moving forward and enjoying life.
Building a strong rapport with my clients is of utmost importance to me. By earning their trust and respect through a warm, non-judgmental and professional approach, I create a safe space for them to explore their inner selves and achieve their own successful outcomes.

A career in the NHS
My own personal journey led me to a diverse and fulfilling career in the NHS. Starting in administration, I discovered my passion for direct patient care and decided to train as a Physiotherapist. Despite the challenges of balancing a hectic family life, work commitments, and dyslexia, I proudly qualified with a Physiotherapy BSc (Hons) Degree.
During my time as a Physiotherapist
I had the privilege of providing care and rehabilitation to hundreds of people, across numerous specialties including neurology, cardiology, respiratory & palliative care. However, a few years ago I faced my own health problems and eventually had to give up work. This experience gave me firsthand insight into the emotional and physical challenges that arise when our purpose, identity, and life direction undergo significant changes.
Hypnotherapy Practitioner
As my health improved, I decided that I could still continue to help people by drawing on my experience and skills in a different way. I had always found the psychological aspect of treating clients the most engaging part, so after a lot of research and having witnessed the transformative effect hypnosis made to my own recovery, I completed the Diploma in Hypnotherapy. This further fuelled my determination to become a qualified practitioner in this field and I have never looked back.

What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is where the mind and body are guided into a deeply relaxed state. This is often referred to as a ‘trance’ state and can feel the same as just before you fall asleep or when daydreaming. You remain aware and fully in control throughout. During this state of deep relaxation the subconscious mind (where we store unwanted habits, memories or negative behaviour) becomes more alert and accessible, and by using various techniques and positive suggestion the hypnotherapist can facilitate reprogramming of these thoughts into the positive changes needed to help you live your best life.
How does Hypnotherapy work?
Hypnotherapy incorporates a variety of approaches and techniques including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), that can be used in numerous combinations depending on the clients’ individual needs. This makes it a very flexible therapy that uses hypnosis to help treat a health concern, symptoms, or behavior.
What can it help with?
• Stress, Anxiety, Insomnia, OCD • Addiction, Drinking Habits, Stop Smoking • IBS, Weight Issues, Eating Disorders, Healthy Eating • Low Self Esteem, Confidence, Exams/Interviews • Relationship issues, Unhelpful Habits, Body image • Menopausal Symptoms, Fears, Phobias • Anger Management, Grief/Loss, • Child birth, Postsurgical Pain, Pain Management • Motivation, Personal Development
What happens in a typical session?
At your initial consultation you have a safe space and the time you need to talk about any challenges that you are facing, the effect this is having on your life and what you would like to change. We can then mutually decide your treatment plan and set any goals that you would like to achieve. You will then be made comfortable and gently guided into hypnosis using a combination of imagery and words. The initial consultation usually takes around 60 – 90 minutes. During this time an approximate number of follow-up sessions will be mutually agreed, however this is reviewed weekly in line with how treatment is progressing. A follow up session usually lasts between 45 – 60 minutes. You may also be given an audio recording to listen to at home to enhance your experience and help progress treatment.
What else do I need to know?
A good rapport with your therapist is essential. If you feel comfortable and at ease with your therapist you are more likely to accept any positive suggestions being made to you. You will need to be open to the process and really want it to succeed. If someone else is pushing you to seek help but you are not yet ready, hypnotherapy is not likely to work.

IBS for over 10 years
The therapy room was so peaceful and felt such a safe place to be. For over 10 years I had suffered from IBS. It was a massive strain on my daily life and completely hindered my work and personal life. Living with IBS and having little control over my bowels was causing so much stress, pain and upset.
A friend had recommended Julie and I’m so glad I reached out. Since finishing the sessions and listening to the recording she sent to me, my quality of life has completely flipped, I now live life in the moment. I no longer have to plan trips away with multiple toilet stops or cancel work meetings.
My IBS since hypnotherapy with Julie has improved on levels beyond my expectations and daily life is so much easier. I would recommend visiting Julie for your bowel issues or any other problems as she’s a lovely lady who put me at ease straight away.

Childhood Trauma
Julie put me at ease immediately with her calm manner and listened intently without reproach. We discussed the number of sessions that might be needed at the start, I had 4, and she guided me every step of the way. Completely client centred and highly recommended.

PreSurgical Anxiety
She was very professional and her medical background and knowledge helped reassure me. I was very scared to have surgery due to a previous bad experience in hospital. The thought of having to visit the hospital again and the fear of not coming around after the anaesthetic was waking me up in the night with panic.
I visited Julie about 4 weeks before my surgery date as I wanted to be calm on the day and not as worried. She made me feel very relaxed and calm. I visited Julie for 3 sessions and in between each session I listened to an audio track at home. She was very professional and her medical experience helped reassure me more. It came to surgery day and I arrived at the hospital very calm and settled.
I felt in control and wasn’t shaking with nerves like I thought I would be. I remained mentally positive throughout. If you are scared of having surgery I would highly encourage you to reach out to Julie and spend some time having hypnotherapy. It will make your pre op feel a breeze and I definitely recovered and healed quicker without the worry and stress.

Compulsive Nailbiter
I had been a compulsive nailbiter (Onychophagia) since childhood (I am now approaching 60)
Numerous attempts to quit the habit had invariably met with failure until, that is, I was fortunate enough to make use of Julie’s hypnotherapy services. Within four sessions, I was completely free of this debilitating and annoying habit. Thank you, Julie.
